"Let It Burn Out"
A worrying sight as a row of electric vehicles suddenly ignite one another after one vehicle overloads whilst charging.
With the world heading towards everyone having electric cars it's a worrying thing to see the ferocity of just how quickly things go wrong when electric batteries ignite.
After seeing this video I contacted a senior fireman at Suffolk Fire Brigade to ask what is the brigades advice with regards to electric vehicles igniting, stay well up wind on the toxic smoke and let them burn out. I pressed my informant a bit harder on why water, foam of CO2 extinguishers cant be used. The reply was simple, when electric cars are on fire large amounts of toxic chemicals are omitted and using liquids would just create a wider pollution area, as for CO2, this would just increase the flare effect that lithium batteries omit once ignited.
So in all Electric vehicles are not as green and pleasant for the environment after all.
